1. Turn the idea into a brief
Start with the customer, room and sales channel. A nursery caddy, cube-shelf bin and laundry hamper need different proportions, handle structures and packing methods even when the visual direction is similar.
2. Confirm the specification
The working specification should cover finished dimensions, rope composition and thickness, color placement, handles, label method and packaging. Reference images help communicate style, but measurable details are what make the product repeatable.
3. Sample and review
Review proportion, stability, color, stitching, handle comfort and how the basket recovers after packing. A typical sample can take about 7–10 days after the specification is confirmed, with additional time for complex materials or branding.
4. Prepare for the sales channel
Retail inserts, gift presentation and Amazon FBA packaging solve different problems. Decide the channel before final packing so carton use, protection and customer presentation can be reviewed together.
A concise, measurable brief shortens sampling and helps the approved sample become a dependable production reference.
